Question
I submitted a Routine Request for a prescription, but it was declined. Why did this happen?
Solution
Routine Requests are intended to be used for repeat prescriptions for your GP's existing patients.
When you submit a Routine Request through HotDoc, your request is sent directly to your GP for review. Your GP makes the final decision on whether your prescription can be provided without an appointment.
Some reasons a Routine Request may be declined include:
- The medication is considered restricted or not suitable for renewal through a Routine Request.
- It's been too long since your last appointment with your GP. You must have seen them for an in-person appointment within the last 12 months.
- You are not a regular patient of the GP you made the request to.
-
Your GP decides that it's not safe or appropriate to provide the prescription without a consultation.
- You may be eligible to be bulk billed for your request.
If your GP declines your request, you will be notified via email and your GP may include a note to provide some further context:
In this case, you will be refunded in full and the funds will be returned to your original payment method within five business days.
If your GP has indicated they would like you to book an in-person appointment to discuss your medication requirements, click here to head back to the HotDoc booking page.
