Once your Health Wallet is set up, you can add your prescriptions and keep track of them – including when they're due for a repeat, and when they've expired.
| We're gradually rolling Health Wallet out to patients, so you may notice some things change as we fine-tune it based on your feedback. |

Adding a script
-
Open the HotDoc app, select Wallet from the bottom menu, then unlock your Health Wallet using your PIN, Face ID/fingerprint, or HotDoc password.
-
Select Add script.
-
Enter your eScript link, or the code printed under the eRx barcode on a paper script, then select Look up script.
|
If your doctor or pharmacy sent it by SMS or email, copy the full URL (for example, https://ausscripts.erx.com.au/scripts/1234567890ABCD). If you have a paper script, look for the code printed under the eRx barcode and type it into the field (14–24 characters long). |
-
Check the script details are correct, then select Save to Health Wallet.
| If you've added a paper script, any physical copy is still valid and can be used by anyone holding it to fill your prescription at a pharmacy. Store paper copies securely, or destroy them once you no longer need them. |
Understanding your script status
Your scripts are listed by the person they're prescribed for. Select a script to see its details.
Each script shows a status so you can see what to do next:
- Active – this script is ready to be dispensed. Show the QR code (or your paper script) to your pharmacist.
- Last repeat – this is the final supply on this prescription. Once it's dispensed, you'll need a new script from your doctor – see Requesting a new script below. Your total supplies are always one more than your repeats – for example, 2 repeats means 3 supplies in total – so you'll see this status on your final supply even once your repeats have run out.
- Dispensed – this script has been filled. If you have repeats remaining, you'll get a new eScript link by SMS or email for your next repeat – see Importing a script for your next repeat below.
- Expired – this script is no longer valid and can't be dispensed. You'll need a new script from your doctor.
Sharing a script
If a script is an active eScript, you can share it with a family member or trusted person so they can collect your medication on your behalf.
| The eScript will be sent as a link that opens in the recipient's phone or computer browser – they don't need to be using the HotDoc app. |
-
Open the HotDoc app, select Wallet from the bottom menu, then unlock your Health Wallet using your PIN, Face ID/fingerprint, or HotDoc password.
-
Select the script you'd like to share.
-
Scroll to the bottom of the script and select Share.
- Follow the prompts how to send the script
| Sharing is only available for active eScripts. Paper scripts can't be shared this way, and Share isn't available once a script has been dispensed or has expired – whoever collects the medication will need the physical script. |
Importing a script for your next repeat
For prescriptions with repeats, each repeat is issued as a new script. This is how prescriptions work across the healthcare system – the QR code or paper script used for one dispense can’t be used again, even if you still have repeats remaining.
After your medication is dispensed, you’ll receive your next repeat as either:
- a new eScript link by SMS or email, or
- a new paper script from your pharmacist.
You can then import the new script into Health Wallet before using it for your next repeat.
-
Open the HotDoc app, select Wallet from the bottom menu, then unlock your Health Wallet using your PIN, Face ID/fingerprint, or HotDoc password.
-
Select the dispensed script.
-
Select Import script into Health Wallet.
- Add your new repeat by entering the eScript link you received or scanning the QR code on your new paper script. Then follow the same steps as Adding a script above to save it.
| If you didn’t receive a new eScript link or paper script after your medication was dispensed, check with your pharmacist – they can provide or resend it. |
Requesting a new script
Once you've used your last repeat, or a script has expired, you'll need a new script from your doctor before you can keep taking your medication.
-
Open the HotDoc app, select Wallet from the bottom menu, then unlock your Health Wallet using your PIN, Face ID/fingerprint, or HotDoc password.
-
Select a script showing Last repeat or Expired.
-
Select Request a new script, then book an appointment with your doctor or submit a Routine Request. Routine Requests aren't offered by every clinic – if this option isn't available to you, you'll need to book an appointment instead.
Deleting a script
-
Open the HotDoc app, select Wallet from the bottom menu, then unlock your Health Wallet using your PIN, Face ID/fingerprint, or HotDoc password.
-
Select the script you'd like to remove.
-
Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click Delete.
| Deleting a script only removes it from your Health Wallet. It won't affect any paper copies you hold, or your prescription record with your doctor or pharmacy. |
FAQs
How do I collect my medication?
+
Show the QR code or paper script to your pharmacist, and they'll dispense your medication.
What happens once I've used all my repeats?
+
You'll need a new script from your doctor. You can request one by booking an appointment or submitting a Routine Request.
I already have a new script. How do I add it?
+
Select Import script into Health Wallet from the script's details, or add it as a new script from your Wallet home screen.
Why does my script show as expired?
+
Scripts can no longer be used for a few reasons – for example, the prescription's validity period has ended, or your doctor has cancelled it. Contact your doctor if you're not sure why, or to request a new script.
Can someone else collect my medication for me?
+
If it's an active eScript, you can share it with a family member or trusted person from the script's details, and they can collect it on your behalf. This isn't available once a script has been dispensed or has expired, or for paper scripts – whoever collects your medication will need the physical script.
What happens if I delete a script?
+
The script is permanently removed from your Health Wallet. This won't affect any paper copies you hold, or your prescription record with your doctor or pharmacy. If you deleted it by mistake, you can still reimport it using the original eScript link from your SMS or email.
What if I've deleted the script and the original SMS or email?
+
You'll need to request another script from your doctor. We recommend keeping the original SMS or email in all cases – HotDoc will never delete a script from your Health Wallet, but it can still be removed from your device by mistake.
